Tips For Getting Your Man to Propose - Methods to Make Him Crave a Commitment With You

Getting your man to propose may become something of a challenge if your boyfriend is hesitant about the idea of marriage. It's disheartening for a woman to be in love with a man who says he loves her but won't take the relationship to the next level. Waiting endlessly for an engagement ring can lead to a whole host of negative feelings. You can start to feel rejected, sad and confused. If you're growing weary of your boyfriend's refusal to pop the question, there are things you can do that will change his mind. You can get the man you love to want to marry you just as badly as you want to marry him.

Trying to push a man into marriage is an exhausting endeavor in every way. Emotionally it doesn't take long until you feel spent if you're using all your energy to get someone to commit more to you. Once he realizes how hard you're pushing him, he's just going to push you back, even harder. He'll dig his heels in and you're never going to get that proposal you want.

You'd actually help him to feel more open to the idea of committing if you stop bringing it up. Throw away all the bridal magazines that you have sitting around your home and forget about talking about which of your friends are getting married this year. You need to remove marriage and any related word from your vocabulary for now. This will help him to relax. That's what you need to have happen if you're looking for a marriage proposal.

One mistake that our generation makes that many women before us haven't is we share so much of ourselves before marriage. We think nothing of devoting ourselves entirely to our boyfriends. If he says he loves us and one day he'll probably marry us, we begin acting like his wife right away. If your man feels like you two are already a married couple because he knows in his heart that you are completely his, he sees no reason to go that extra step and take all that trouble to get married. He already has everything he wants and that's you.

That's why so many women find it helpful to pull back a bit. We've all heard the ages old advice of playing hard to get. It works whether you're dating, wanting to be married or married. If a man feels his woman slowly slipping out of his grasp, he'll do whatever it takes to get her back. In the case of a couple on the brink of an engagement, he'll pop the question. You need to show your boyfriend that you're not content being his girlfriend forever. You can accomplish that most effectively by creating a bit of distance between you two. Do that and he'll seriously reconsider the idea of being your husband.

You don't have to wait for him to decide whether or not he's ready to commit to you. If you are tired of putting your dreams on hold because he's commitment phobic, there are things you can do to make him want to marry you now. Learn right now what you need to do to make him fall to his knees and beg you to marry him.

Fig - The Natural Way to Good Health

The fig occupies a high position among fruits. Soft, sweet and puply, this delicious fruit promotes health. It is a pear-shaped hollow fruit, with sugary pulp and a large number of small seeds of golden color sticking to the wall of the cavity. It is variable in size and color. The ripe fresh fruit is juicy, wholesome and delicious. However, being highly perishable, it if sold in the world markets in its dry form.

Origin and Distribution

The fig is a native of Asia Minor and spread early to the Mediterranean region. It is a plant of extremely ancient cultivation and was grown in Egypt around 4,000 BC. It has been used as a principal food in the Mediterranean countries for thousands of years. The main areas of fig cultivation in India are Pune in Maharashtra, Srirangapatnam in Karnataka, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh and parts of Gujarat.

Food Value

An analysis of the fresh fig shows it consists good amount of moisture and little protein, fat and carbohydrate. The dry fig has a high nutritive value. Its most important food element is sugar which forms 51 to 74 per cent of the whole fruit. It can be taken in various ways, either by itself or in combination with other foodstuffs enrich their food value. When taken with white flour, it removes much of its constipating effect. It combines very well with milk. Figs are often used for preparing cakes and jams. They are also made into pudding.

Many medicinal virtues have been ascribed to the fig. It is considered a restorative food which helps in quick recovery after prolonged illness. It removes physical and mental exertion and endows the body with renewed vigour and strength. It is an excellent tonic for the weak people who suffer cracks in lips, tongue and mouth.

Taken either fresh or dried, the fig is regarded as a dependable laxative on account of its large cellulose content and its tough skin. The tiny seeds in the fruit possess the property of stimulating peristaltic or wave like movements of intestines which facilitates easy evacuation of faeces and keeps the alimentary canal clean.

Piles

Owing to its laxative property, the fig is an excellent remedy for piles. Two or three dried figs should be soaked in cold water in a glass of enamelware in the night after cleaning them thoroughly with hot water. They should be taken next morning. Figs should be taken similarly in the evening. This will remove straining at stools and thus prevent the protrusion of the anus. The piles will be cured with regular use of figs in this manner for three or four weeks.

Asthma

Figs are considered beneficial in the treatment of asthma. Phlegmatic cases of cough and asthma are treated with success by their use. It gives comfort to the patient by draining of the
phlegm.

Sexual Weakness

Figs can be beneficially used in the treatment of sexual debility. They can be supplemented by other dry fruits like almonds and dry dates along with butter. Their use has proved effective in such cases

Corns

For corns of long duration, the milky juice of green figs helps to soften them. The milk has a mild necrotic action

Precautions

Figs should be washed thoroughly before use. The skin of the dry fruit being tough, the soaked fig is easy to digest. It is, however, essential to take the water along with the fruit as much of the nutrients come out into the water.

Hosting a Victorian Tea Bridal Shower

When I think of a bridal shower, I get the image of a very elegant event. And little is more elegant than an afternoon Victorian tea. This is a wonderful way to honor the bride-to-be amid luxurious surroundings.

For this type of bridal shower, you should use fine linens, china dishes, and silver. If you don't have any of your own, check with other women friends or a rental equipment business. Also, this type of shower works best with a limited guest list. Too many guests will destroy the cozy and elegant atmosphere usual with afternoon teas.

Invitations

Invitations to your Victorian tea bridal shower should be custom printed and don't forget to include an RSVP card. Also, you might consider ordering matching thank-you notes for the bride-to-be at this time.

Decorations

Fresh flowers are the best decoration for a tea. But a large abundance of flowers should be avoided; one large bouquet on your main table and perhaps a couple smaller bouquets on side tables is all that is necessary.

Food and Drink

Victorian teas traditonally serve an assortment of finger sandwiches with the crusts removed. Sandwich fillings such as chicken salad, tuna salad, or egg salad are typical at a tea. Beverly Clark, in her book Showers also suggests using cream cheese with walnuts, avocado and diced olives, and sliced hard-boiled egg and cucumber. Lunchmeats, such as ham, roast beef, and turkey are not usually served.

Other than sandwiches, the only other food served at a tea is dessert. I suggest having some kind of cake and a variety of pastries, such as eclairs, scones, madeleines, individual tarts, and fancy cookies.

Choose a brand of tea which is favored by connoisseurs, such as Earl Grey or Darjeeling. Have cream, sugar, lemon, and an artificial sweetener on hand for the tea. It's also a good idea to provide some kind of punch, just in case some guests prefer a cold drink rather than hot tea.

Shower Themes

Since a bride-to-be usually is given several bridal showers, it's good to choose a specific theme for your shower. Examples include kitchen shower, lingerie shower, linen shower, etc.

In keeping with a Victorian tea, suggest to your guests they bring shower gifts that would help the bride-to-be host her own afternoon tea. Items such as a teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, serving trays, silver serving utensils are a good choice. Check with the bride to see if she'd prefer china serving dishes or silver.

One final suggestion: If the weather permits, consider having your tea party outside in a garden. Warm sunshine, nice wind, and beautiful flowers make a wonderful scene for an afternoon tea party shower.

The Best Web Hosting Affiliate Programs

What is the best web hosting affiliate program on the web today? The answer to this question is going to be as varied and hotly contested as the thousands of opinions about the best web hosting company out there.

There really isn't a simple answer, if indeed there is any definitive answer at all, to either question.

As an affiliate there are hundreds of hosting companies who will pay you to promote their business. Some will reward you very well whilst others will barely pay you the price of a fast food lunch. With that in mind it seems fair to equate the dollar amounts you can earn with the attractiveness of the hosting affiliate program in question. Let's face it, why accept a commission of $10 when others are offering you $100 or even more?

But is this the only golden rule likely to affect your success as a web hosting affiliate? In a word, no. With all the competition out there for not only your patronage as a customer, but also as an affiliate, hosting companies need to offer attractive deals for both.

For you, as an affiliate, the first thing you need to establish is that you need to be working with a trustworthy, established company, preferably one that pays a decent level of commission. This is not an easy choice to make, because even when you think you have found the perfect company, you will also find plenty of negative comments about them online. The deeper you dig into the world of web hosting, the more you will realize that the online world is absolutely overloaded with nay sayers and complainants in respect of web hosting.

You have to remember that many people buy hosting that is completely unsuited to their needs, often because they have little idea of what their needs are likely to be. It is also very easy, in this day and age of instant gratification, for people to fire off an email or forum post in a fit of temper because of often minor irritations perceived to be the fault of their hosting company. They complain about response times, they complain about billing, downtime and server issues that affect their websites, even if a little patience would likely see the problems resolved. Yes, there are bad hosts out there as well as good ones, but often the loudest anti web hosting voices are perhaps not the ones to listen to for rational and balanced opinion.

I read a complaint recently from a man stating that hosting company A, his host, was more expensive than hosting Company B, and used that as a reason for switching. Sounds fair enough, but with hosting you usually find you get what you pay for and often, comparing two services is like comparing apples and oranges. On this occasion, the customer was moving from one deal to a completely different one and if you compared the two, you would see that he was getting far less than he was with his original host (with whom he had not had any problems). Should he run into problems with the new company he will complain very loudly, even though he could possibly have foreseen that buying a cheaper service would not provide the things he took for granted previously. So, who is really to blame? A hosting company that sets out the features of their service for all to see, or the customer who does not read them. That customer could soon be answering his own question about why his host was so much more expensive than his new one.

The point is, as an affiliate, just as a customer, you will never find a perfect hosting company.

When seeking the companies you feel you would like to work with, it is wise to check for large volumes of negative publicity and complaints, but don't take too much notice of a few sour comments from sour people.

Additionally, I would always recommend trying to find at least one company that is prepared to pay you recurring commissions. Yes, it is possible. The vast majority of hosting companies will pay you a one time referral fee, but there are those who will pay you for the lifetime of the referred customer. For you, this means regular monthly payments that will continue to roll in until the customer cancels their hosting.

That has to be a better deal for any affiliate. You may get a one off $100 commission from one company and that's nice, but if another is willing to pay you $10 every month your potential earnings are far greater, and, you don't have to keep doing the work. It's the classic residual income situation. As an affiliate, there is no reason why you cannot mix both types of affiliate program into your promotional strategies.

There is one hosting company that takes the recurring monthly commissions a few steps further and offers a multi tier compensation plan. In other words, you will not only be paid for your direct customers, but also for the customers they refer. Even better, they structure the affiliate program in a way that means even affiliates who do little in the way of bringing in new customers can still earn money from customers who are brought in by people above them in the affiliate "team". It's almost MLM, but it's genuine and enables the company's affiliates to cover the cost of their own hosting quite easily, effectively giving them free web hosting and furthermore, the potential to earn a very decent monthly income.

Whoever you choose to work with as an affiliate, the market is intensely competitive and selling hosting is not the easy money you might think. Having said that, commission levels are high and there is definitely money to be made. If you are seeking the definitive answer to the question "which is the best web hosting affiliate program?" It is unlikely that you will ever find it, the answers having far too much to do with consumer opinion.

Vancouver Olympics 2010

The Vancouver Olympic Games will commence in February, 2010. Vancouver was awarded these Olympic Games after narrowly defeating competing cities Pyeongchang, South Korea and Salzburg, Austria. This will be the second Winter Olympics hosted by Canada and the third Olympics hosted overall. Montreal played host to the 1976 Summer Games and Calgary played host to the 1988 Winter Games.

The Winter Olympics are an international multi-sport event held every four years. They feature sports held on ice or snow. Events including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and speed skating have been at every Winter Olympic Games since their inception. Other events such as luge, short track speed skating, bobsled, and freestyle skiing have been added over the years.

The Vancouver Games will be hosted by a number of different venues around Vancouver, British Columbia. The City of Vancouver will host hockey, figure skating, short track skating and some Paralympics events. Whistler, BC will host the alpine skiing, cross country skiing, bobsled and luge events. Richmond will play host to the long track speed skating while West Vancouver will host the freestyle skiing.

The first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924. Prior to the first proper Winter Olympics, figure skating and ice hockey had included as events in the Summer Olympics. The Games have been held every four years since then with an interruption from 1940-48 due to the Second World War. In 1992, the Winter Games split from the Summer Games schedule in an attempt to attract more advertising money. The next Winter Games on this schedule were the Lillehammer Games in 1992.

There have only been a select number of countries to host the Winter Olympics. As mentioned, this will be Canada's second time to host the Winter Games. Other countries to host the Games twice have been Italy, Japan, Austria and Norway. France has hosted the Games three times while the United States has hosted the Games four times. The next Winter Games will then be hosted by Sochi, Russia in 2014, marking the first time that Russia has hosted a Winter Olympic Games.

In anticipation of the Vancouver Olympics, the Canadian Olympic Association developed a program with the lofty goal of Canadian athletes achieving more Olympic medals than ever before. This program has been called "Own the Podium" and has been in effect over the past number of years. The results of this program will be seen at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

4 Tips On How To Write Wedding Speeches - Ideas For The Best Man

The scariest experience of my life has been always when I have been asked to make wedding speeches. Although, I am not shy and neither am I an introvert and being a salesman by profession I am used to giving presentation and addressing large gatherings, yet when asked to be the Best Man at my friends wedding my entire self confidence touched an all time low.

In reality, it was an important day in his life. My entire wedding speech would be remembered by him, his just wedded wife and a host of guest for eternity. Added to that, my speech traditionally would follow the speeches made by the Father of the Bride the Groom and the Maid of Honour now that most certainly stays as a lasting impression.

This incident left me to ponder of how to frame a wedding speech. Following are a few suggestions that might help you in similar situations.

- Asking the Groom regarding what he would like you to say may not be of any assistance, as he himself might not be able to frame together as in what to say. What might be fruitful is asking him what not to say. Here your friend would certainly be in a position to help. This exercise will most definitely spare any unintended awkward situation.

- Make a note of certain important points. Your connection with the Groom. How did you meet up, how long ago, why you are companions, why did he ask you of all people to be the Best Man.? How is this marriage going to change your relationship with the Groom?

- Just in case you know the bride as well then you may use the same set of rules while describing your relation with her.

- After you are ready with your points, you can then form an outline of the points and make a proper speech from it.

As soon as you have all this on paper, practise it. It is not essential that you have to remember it word to word. On the contrary, your speech should sound like an impromptu and not something that you have worked on laboriously.

Remember to have a light snack 15 minutes before delivering the speech. This will calm your nerves and assist in delivering the speech smoothly. Avoid the Champagne as much as possible.

Traditionally, you have to raise a toast to the parents of the Bride and the Groom after you have finished your speech. It is always a good idea to be aware of their names.

Now, all this does sound easy. Doesn't it? Well if you have no less than a month before the D-Day you will be able to do a wonderful job. But just in case you have shortages of time then do not avoid the Champagne. Go all out on it, at least you will have an alibi for your disastrous performance.

Putting a Stop to Project Creep - Protect Yourself and Your Business

Any service provider is aware of the concept of "project creep." The project is agreed to by both service provider and client but, as the project moves forward, the client asks for "just one more little thing."

Now, you want to keep the client happy and coming back for more of your services but when the client asks for five "little things," you're losing money because none of these project elements was discussed before the project was undertaken.

Project creep gobbles up time and money (same thing, actually) that the small service provider simply can't afford to lose.

Now, not all service providers are in the enviable position of vetting clients to determine whether they become part of the client base. Many of us simply have to take the work that comes our way - especially if we're just starting out as SEOs, site designers or CPAs. It doesn't matter. If you have clients, you need to understand how to prevent project creep.

The Dangers of Project Creep
The most obvious danger is, of course, the loss of time. Man-hours translate to dollars in a small shop so if you're spending time doing just "one little sales letter" on top of contractual deliverables, it's a give-away and you're the one who's giving it away.

However, there's a more serious danger. WOM. Word of mouth. If you say 'no' to project creep, you may save a few dollars but end up with an unhappy client. And that unhappy client is not going to sing your praises at the next conference or seminar. Bad WOM spreads like kudzu. It should be avoided at all costs. Yes, even the little extras should be thrown in. Why?

Because if that client walks away feeling she got a good deal and good service from you, she'll talk you up to her network and that one job that cost you a few hundred dollars in man-hours can deliver tens of thousands of dollars in new work - and an expanding, stable client base - one you don't have to replenish. Repeat business is your bread and butter.

So, the dangers are: (1) you lose some time and money on project creep and (2) you lose the best salesperson you'll ever have - a satisfied client.

Google The New Client and Do Your Research
If it breathes, it's indexed in Google somewhere. Do a quick background search. Check out the company website and check Whois, the directory of domain owners. It's always nice to know who you might be working with.

If it's a big project - six figures let's say - pull a D & B on the company. Dunn and Bradstreet report on all corporations doing business in the U.S. and provides background, credit history and other useful information.

Talk to the decision maker. If a face-to-face meeting is possible, great. Otherwise, check the company website for design and production values, features and other tell-tale signs of a successful, or at least well-run, company.

Know with whom you'll do business. Request a credit check if there's any doubts about how deep you want to go with a particular client. It may be better (if possible) to try a small project before jumping into a $40,000 website with every bell, whistle and live feed you can find.

The SOW (Statement of Work)
The statement of work is often a separate document from the work agreement or contract. The contract usually states that you or your small company will complete all work in the SOW to the satisfaction of the client.

So, that SOW should be very, very specific to prevent project creep and hard feelings down the road.

Work and Payment Schedules
The SOW should provide detailed milestones and payment dates. This does a couple of things for you. If you deliver early, you score points for promptness. You're already ahead of the game. Also, with a payment schedule you never get too deep into a project - especially with a new client.

If the client misses a payment, the work gets put to one side - at least until the client makes good on his or her SOW agreement.

Deliverables Inventory
The list of deliverables should be extremely detailed, describing the deliverable, format, placement, number of revisions and any other project specs.

In addition, the SOW should also include a list of items that won't be delivered as part of the agreement. For example, if you're building a website and the client asks if you could do a quick "5-part, auto-responder series," ARs should be on your list of components that are NOT included in the price.

The client may be responsible for product pictures, for example, or site text or baseline metrics. Make sure everyone is clear on what's included and what isn't in the SOW.

However, it's good form to offer a discount on this additional work to keep the client happy. Just make sure you at least break even.

Make the Client a Stakeholder
This is often overlooked, even by long-time business owners.

If your company simply presents storyboards or sample web pages to the client, the client has no vested interest in those design elements. So, early in the discovery phase, ask the client to recommend things like color schemes he likes, fonts that she finds attractive and other design elements.

This makes the client a stakeholder in the finished project, whatever it may be. It's difficult to say you don't like the color combination when you picked it out. Don't back the client into a corner, i.e. "But these are the colors you chose!" Great way to lose a client, who, as we all know, is ALWAYS right.

However, by giving the client a say in project development, you lock in design or other project aspects more quickly.

Deliver Pages
Throughout the process, stay in touch with the client and get approvals at every possible stage. Roughs, boards, reaction text (too hypey?), sample site pages or the quarterly financial report - keep the customer informed.

Clients hate to be ignored and this shows you and your team are on the job. It also enables you to make changes when they're easy to make. This is a real time saver, and if the client knows what s/he wants, all the better.

Managing Project Creep
A solid statement of work is the best place to start. But don't stop there.

If the client asks for an additional deliverables and you can do it in an hour and it's going to make him happy, do it. However, recognize that you've opened the door for a few more "little things."

At some point, early in the project, introduce the concept of client alterations - changes after approvals, additions, you know, project creep. Be straightforward. This project creep is hurting your business and "while I'd love to give you another 20 pages of site text, I just don't have the time."

You have to draw the line. Otherwise, the client will keep on adding to the list of deliverables and you watch as your margins grow thinner with each "little thing."

Your time and your expertise are the two commodities you sell. If you give these assets away, you diminish their value in the eyes of the client. Remember, you're not just being paid for what you do...you're also being paid for what you know.

And that's what makes you the best ever there was.

Tips For Having a Modern Wedding Shower

Wedding showers, also known as bridal showers, have romantic beginnings. According to oral legends, the friends of the bride would gather together and bring gifts, ensuring that she would have enough dowries to marry the man she loves. These ancient "gift giving parties" were most likely held for brides who did not have a dowry because her father did not approve of the groom.

The monetary value of wedding showers made it tacky for the bride's mother to host the party. But today, the purpose of this gathering is radically different. The fate of the bride and groom no longer hinges on whether or not enough dowries can be collected during the party. In fact, a wedding can take place even without a wedding shower. The modern bridal shower is an opportunity for the friends of the bride and groom to show their support of the upcoming marriage in a fun, relaxed, and informal setting.

What is a modern bride to be party?

A modern bride to be party is a fun event that is organized mainly by the bridesmaids but one of the bride's friends, who may not be part of the entourage, can also put it together. The party can take place anywhere, such as a beach, a restaurant, or a rented party room. It can also be held in the house of the bride's mother. A bridal shower hosted by the bride's mother is no longer viewed as tacky because it is the last chance of the bride's family and friends to enjoy each other before the wedding. Gift giving, of course, is still practiced but the gifts need not be practical. In fact, the gifts can be silly and suggestive of the wedding night. And finally, wedding showers are no longer an exclusive activity for the bride and her female friends. The groom and the male friends can join the party!

How to organize a modern wedding shower?

If you are the one assigned to organize this event, then here are few tips that can help you put together an enjoyable and affordable party.

  • When: The shower should be held at least two months before the anticipated wedding day. The party invitations, of course, should be sent weeks ahead. To allow many of the couple's working friends to attend, the bridal shower should be scheduled on a weekend afternoon, however, this is not a rigid rule.

  • Who: The guests should be those who were invited to the wedding. It would be awkward to explain why you would invite someone to the wedding shower and not to the wedding. If you plan to include the groom and some male friends, make sure that the activity you choose would be meaningful and romantic for the couple.

  • Where: An all-female gathering can be a day at the spa but a male-and-female party should revolve around the wedding's theme or the couple's favorite. For example, if the couple loves tennis, the party can be on a tennis court. Keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with hosting the party at a house.

Infection Process and Infection Control

Throughout history man has faced the spread of infection, pondering its causes and how to treat it or prevent it. Infections have been known to affect major segments of the population, as did the plague in the Middle Ages. Although important advances have been made in understanding and treating infection, the threat of infection looms as large as it ever has. Newer enemies in the battle of infection emerge such as HIV and hepatitis C virus (HCV). Once-conquered enemies become resistant to treatment, as it the case of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Healthcare personnel typically encounter numerous patients on a daily basis, many of whom may be harboring these or other agents of infection. Measures to prevent the spread of infection must be taken in the course of treating all patients.

Below we explain the infection process and describe infection control measures needed to protect healthcare patients, staff, visitors, and those who do business with healthcare facilities.

What Is Infection?

Our environment is full of microorganisms (microscopic organisms) referred to as microbes. Microbes include bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses. The majority of microbes are nonpathogenic, meaning they do not cause disease under normal conditions. Microbes that are capable of causing disease (ie., pathogenic) are called pathogens. If a pathogen invades the body and the conditions are favorable for it to multiply and cause injurious effects or disease, the resulting condition is called an infection. The pathogen responsible for causing the infection is referred to as the infectious or causative agent. Infection can be local (restricted to a small area of the, body) or systemic, in which the entire body is affected.

Communicable Infections

Some pathogenic microbes cause infections that can be spread from person to person. These infections are called communicable infections and the diseases that result are called communicable diseases. A division of the U.S. Public Health Service called the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is charged with the investigation and control of various diseases, especially those that are communicable and have epidemic potential. The CDC recommends safety precautions to protect healthcare workers and others from infection.

Nosocomial Infections

Approximately 5 % of patients in the United States are exposed to and contract some sort of infection after admission to a hospital or other healthcare facility. These hospital or healthcare facility-acquired infections are called nosocomial infections. Nosocomial infections can result from contact with infected personnel, other patients, and visitors, or contaminated equipment. The most common nosocomial infection in the United States is urinary tract infection. The Hospital Infection Control Practice Advisory Committee (HICPAC), established in 1991, advises the CDC on updating guidelines regarding prevention of nosocomial infection.

Source Of Infection

The source is the origin of infectious microorganisms, also called the reservoir. Sources of infectious microbes include infected humans or anima1s and contaminated articles and equipment. In a healthcare setting, human sources of infectious microbes can be patients, personnel, or visitors, and can include those with active disease, those whose disease is in the incubation period, and those who are chronic carriers of a dis- ease. Another potential source of infectious microbes is a person's own normal flora (microorganisms that normally live on the skin and other areas of the human body).

Inanimate objects such as contaminated equipment can be a major source of infection in a healthcare setting. Whether or not an inanimate source is capable of transmitting infection depends upon the amount of contamination, the viability or ability of the organism to survive on the source, the virulence or degree to which an organism is capable of causing disease, and the amount of time elapsed between when the source was contaminated and when it was contacted.

For example, the virus that causes hepatitis B is much more virulent, or capable of causing disease from a small amount of infective material, than HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. It is also more viable, meaning it is capable of surviving longer on surfaces than is HIV. However, if a long enough time elapses from the time of contamination until contact by a susceptible host, the microbe is no longer alive and is not capable of transmitting disease.

Modes Of Transmission

There are five basic modes or routes of infection transmission: contact, droplet, airborne, vehicle, and vector. The same microbe can be transmitted by more than one route.

Contact transmission

Contact transmission is the most frequent mode of infection transmission. There are two types of contact transmission, direct transmission and indirect transmission.

Direct contact transmission involves direct, physical transfer of a pathogenic microbe to a susceptible host through close or intimate contact such as touching or kissing.

Indirect contact transmission involves personal contact by a susceptible host with contaminated inanimate objects such as patient bed linens, clothing, dressings, and eating utensils. It includes contact with phlebotomy equipment such as gloves, needles, specimen tubes, and phlebotomy carts and trays. It also includes less obvious contaminated objects such as doorknobs and faucet handles. The transfer of infectious microbes from contaminated hands to a susceptible host is also considered indirect contact transmission.

Droplet transmission

Droplet transmission involves the transfer of the infective microbe to the mucous membranes of the nose or mouth or the conjunctiva (mucous membranes) of the eyes of a susceptible individual through sneezing, coughing, or talking by an infected per- son. Droplet transmission can also occur during procedures such as suctioning and throat swab collection. It differs from airborne transmission in that droplets do not travel more than 3 feet, and do not remain suspended in air.

Airborne transmission

Airborne transmission involves dissemination of droplet nuclei. Droplet nuclei are the residue of evaporated droplets generated by sneezing, coughing, or talking. Infectious microbes within droplet nuclei can remain viable even though suspended in the air or in dust particles for long periods. Microbes carried in this manner can become widely dispersed before being inhaled by or deposited on a susceptible host. For this reason, special air handling and ventilation are required for rooms of patients having infections with airborne transmission. Persons entering the room must wear a snug-fitting mask with a special filter. M. tuberculosis, rubeola virus, and varicella virus are the most common microorganisms transmitted by the airborne route.

Vector transmission

Vector transmission involves the transfer of the microbe by an insect, arthropod, or animal. An example of vector transmission is the transmission of malaria by a mosquito or the plague by rodent fleas.

Vehicle transmission

Vehicle transmission involves the transmission of the infective microbe through contaminated food, water, or drugs. Examples of vehicle transmission are salmonella infection from handling contaminated chicken and shigella infection from drinking contaminated water. The transmission of hepatitis and HIV through blood transfusion is also considered vehicle transmission.

Susceptible Host

A susceptible host is someone who has decreased ability to resist infection. Susceptibility is affected by age, health, and the immune status of the individual. For example, newborns whose immune systems are not yet developed and old people whose immune systems are no longer functioning properly are more susceptible to infections. In addition, disease, antibiotic treatment, and immunosuppressive drugs may compromise a person's resistance to infection. Procedures such as surgery, anesthesia, and insertion of catheters can also leave a patient more susceptible to infection. Recovery from a particular virus or vaccination against a virus also affects susceptibility. A healthy person who has received a vaccination against a disease-causing virus, or who has recovered from infection with a particular virus, has developed antibodies against that virus and is considered to be immune, or unlikely to develop the disease.

Breaking The Chain Of Infection

Breaking the chain of infection means stopping infections at the source, eliminating means of transmission, and reducing or eliminating the susceptibility of potential hosts. Ways to prevent transmission of infectious microbes are proper hand washing; use of gloves, gowns, masks, and other protective equipment when indicated; proper waste disposal; isolation procedures; insect and rodent control; and decontamination of surfaces and instruments. Susceptibility of potential hosts can be reduced through proper nutrition, reduction of stress, and immunization against common pathogens.

What Makes a Great TV Talk Show Host?

It looks so easy. Can't anybody fool around for an hour chatting with celebrities? If you get a hot celebrity like our neighbor north of here, Bruce Willis, he takes over the show and you can sit back and enjoy. That should be easy.

The other night Bruce Willis came on Letterman and I could hardly wait for him to get out there. At first, I couldn't see what his joke was going to be. Then he turned his head. The right side of his face was plastered with buckshot.

Not too long ago, he came on Letterman in a green suit. I don't remember why. I just know it was funny and I expect fun from Bruce Willis when he appears on a show. I can't imagine what it would be like if he showed up on the Daily Show. He and Jon Stewart would blow our minds, wouldn't they?

Last night Leno had a sexy actress on the show. She is single and prefers dogs to men. She has six dogs as I remember and she travels with four of them. People are interested in dogs so her appearance was a success. (Not!) The actress had large mammary glands and they were somewhat exposed.

Normally, Jay would spend a good deal of time about how sexy his guest looks, but the young actress was too sexy and nothing had to be said about her appearance.

By ignoring the sex topic other than a casual comment that his wife was watching, Jay had a better interview than he usually does because he talked about the actress's interest and not his interest.

The interview was about the same as the last time this beauty came on his show, but nobody seemed to care. They were there for the view.

The interviews on talk shows are not enough to maintain interest. Often those interviewed are brainless twits and as boring as dairy mud. Paris Hilton came on the Letterman show and couldn't give an answer to the simplest question. She had nothing to say and that is what she said.

Other activities have to be included.

The audience want some structure in the show that allows surprise. Without that, the show is dead.

Did you see Oprah give away the cars?

That was a media event.

Did you see Letterman walk Oprah, arm in arm, across the street to the theater?

Did you see Letterman's crew drop watermelons off the Sullivan Theater Building to the street below?

And that is the point of this article.

The job of the host of a talk show is to make sure that the audience is continually entertained.

Leno is a standup comedian and he therefore uses that as his forte. Letterman is a clown, and downplays that part of the show. When I say "downplay" I mean he keeps his monologue short.

Helen Degeneres likes to dance on her show. Her dancing is awful and I always hit the channel button when she does it.

Some gimmicks don't work for bearded old men.

If I were to ask you how Leno and Letterman compare with Johnny Carson, you would probably say that there is no comparison.

Carson was the master of the monologue (and the skit) as was Jack Benny and Bob Hope and Rodney Dangerfield and ten other comedians you know. So the monologue isn't everything.

Letterman generally does a better job of interviewing then Leno, but neither compare with Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jon Steward, or Fred Allen.

They get by.

Leno likes to make fun of people and things.

He does not see irony like a comedian like Jerry Seinfeld but he sees the obvious.

He likes to go out on the street and interview the flotsam and jetsam that flows along. He is sexually minded and usually is looking for something sexy about every female that walks down the street (and who joins him in celebrity chit chat.) Letterman is a lady sniffer too but to a much less degree than Leno. Leno looks for lechery in the men.

Last night Leno was asking the audience to guess if street people had a tattoo. The audience was very good at this. Everybody had a tattoo but one and they guessed that too.

This type of antic is good because it brings the audience into the program. They are taking part. He does the same thing when asking the audience if a particular weird item sold on EBay.

Letterman uses sideshow tactics to get a laugh. His skit Will it Float is a contest between him and Paul. The audience is not directly participating but each person in the audience forms an opinion. So he gets the same effect.

What do the girl with the rings and the girl with the grinder and the two stand-around girls have to do with this act? Everything! Every picture needs a frame.

The most important factor for a person that has to stand in front of a television audience night after night or day after day is to develop a continuing relationship with each member of the audience. This is not an easy thing to do for some people.

Letterman is not a personal kind of guy. He keeps things close to his chest.

Leno is somewhat this way, but Leno has a warm personality, almost loving, and people relate to him.

Watch Leno with animals versus Letterman.

Letterman wonders if the animal is going to pee on him.

Leno holds the animal close and loves it. That transfers to the audience.

Oprah is a monumental warmth bunny. Everybody loves her and wants to get closer too her. (That must make her life hell.)

Leno is going to be replaced by Conan O'Brian is a few years. Conan lacks now what is needed to succeed in that role. He is mainly a clown and probably doesn't have a serious bone in his body. He likes the skit. After a while his tactics can become tedious. But the host is not the whole show. Conan should do well because he is well know, will be more seasoned, and will have good writers and show directors that will get the show into a successful format. Those writers and directors should start practicing now.

Jon Stewart is hosting the Oscars this year.

Letterman completely bombed out on that assignment. He made an absolute ass of himself and he still regrets it.

Jon Stewart will be a big success if he doesn't get too vulgar. I think he will entertain the actors more than the television audience. That is a risk he has to take.

Success on the Oscar show will probably bring Jon greater opportunities than what is offered on Comedy Channel.

Watch out Letterman and Leno!

How to Host a Snow White Birthday Party

Want to throw your princess the fairest birthday party of all? You don't need a magic mirror to tell you a Snow White theme party will make her special day the most memorable in all of the land!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the first animated film produced by Walt Disney and released in 1937. The film is ranked by the American Film Institute as the greatest animated film of all time so it's no wonder after seventy-three years she is still a favorite Disney princess among girls and adults.

Begin planning her fairytale birthday party by picking a date, location and time then move onto the guest list and invitations.

Invitations
Let Snow White do the inviting by creating your own and unique invitations. A cutout of the princess, the magic mirror or other characters containing the party's information is a great start. Use royal language like "hear ye hear ye" and invite them to your cottage in the forest or castle for a grand ball. Request guest wear their finest royal attire or dress up as their favorite Disney princesses (of course it's a fun idea to dress the birthday girl up as Snow White).

Decorations
Decorating for the party can be made easy by purchasing blue, red and gold streamers and balloons from your local party supply store. Make guests feel like they are celebrating with the movie's characters by placing pictures of Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, Prince Charming, Wicked Queen and the magic mirror throughout the space. Make the birthday girl feel like a true princess by creating a throne with pillows, streamers and balloons and place apples embellished with ribbon on the tables as center pieces.

Activities
There are many easy and fun activities you can do to keep guest entertained. If you didn't request guests to wear royal attire, play dress up or do makeovers and nails. Turn classic party games into Snow White games by playing character bingo and pinning the lips on Prince Charming or Dopey. Let them get creative by decorating foam tiaras or locker mirrors. You can also play a fun game of bobbing for apples, but be careful for the poisonous ones, or watch the classic Disney movie.

Food
Guests may be skeptical of any apples lying around, so ask the birthday girl what she would like to feast on, after all it's her party. A tea party is also an excellent choice by offering guests mini sandwiches, macaroni salads, cheese, Jello squares and punch. Gooseberry pie was also a favorite among the Seven Dwarfs. Eat off of Snow White paper plates or solid red, blue or gold plates with matching cups and silverware.

Gift Bags
Thank guests for coming with a gift bag. While picking up decorations, check out favors at the party supply store. Character pencils, stickers, candy and jewelry are fun and inexpensive items to fill your goodie bags with and a great way for guests to remember the fairytale party.

Does your princess love Snow White? Then dress her up in royal attire from Snow White Costumes.com! The online retailer carries child and adult Snow White costumes great for Halloween, birthday parties or playtime. They also offer a great selection of accessories!

Vasectomy or Tubes Tied?

Whether the husband gets a vasectomy or the wife gets a tubal ligation is usually decided by who has the strongest will. Vasectomies and tubal ligations are safe surgeries, but the operation on a man is a simple cutting under the skin in an office, while the operation on a woman requires going into her belly in an operating room. Over the long haul, they both are safe and effective in preventing pregnancies.

Two studies seemed to show that having a vasectomy increases a man's chances of getting prostate cancer, but more recent studies show no increased risk. When scientists compare two variables to see if one causes the other, they should determine whether one factor causes the other, or is just associated with it. They use two study groups: men who have had vasectomies and those who have not. Men who have had vasectomies tend to be more sexually active than those who have not had this procedure; otherwise, they wouldn't need to have the vasectomy done. Three recent studies show that increased sexual activity is a risk factor for prostate cancer. Those at increased risk include men who have the earliest first sexual intercourse, the most partners, the most marriages and the most frequent orgasms. However, at present most doctors feel that sexual activity is not a risk factor for prostate cancer. Men who have had vasectomies are also less likely to use condoms because they don't have to worry about pregnancy, so they are more likely to pick up venereal diseases that may or may not be associated with prostate cancer.

Doctors cut the spermatic cord as it leaves the testicles to carry sperm to the outside. Beyond the cut, two glands, the prostate and seminal vesicles, attach to and supply most of the ejaculatory fluid. A vasectomy does not change a man's hormone levels or the appearance or amount of fluid in his ejaculate. One study shows that you must be cautious after you have had a vasectomy. Sometimes sperm hides in the tubes for months. The usual waiting period is to check a man six weeks after he has had a vasectomy to see if any sperm are still in his ejaculate. This study shows that you have to wait six months to be checked to see if it is safe to make love without causing a pregnancy.

Top Five Bachelor Party Destinations

The bachelor party is a common rite of passage for most soon to be married man. Over the years the bachelor party has gone from a night out with the guys to a full blown event. The bachelor party getaway vacation is becoming increasing popular. So much so that many travel destinations and resorts have gone out of their way to attract young man looking for a wild time. With that in mind let's count down the top five bachelor party destinations.

5. Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Looking for something more exciting then visiting the strippers and sitting around like a wallflower while you pound a couple back. Why not hit the slopes? Whistler Mountain has some of the best skiing in the world. It also have plenty of gorgeous Canadian ski bunnies. After the lifts close you can take in a game at Buffalo Bill's. Be sure to visit Tommy Africa's Bar, voted the top dance club by the locals. Finally, head to the only strip joint in town, The Boot Pub. The legal drinking age is 18 in Canada.

4. New Orleans, Louisiana

Where can you get away with asking a woman to show you the goods and not get slapped for it? Two words. Mardi Gras. Where better to spend a bachelor party than at the ultimate party. No man can truly enjoy Mardi Gras without participating in some beads swapping. This is not going to happen with the missus around so do your buddy a favor and head to the Big Easy with the guys. There are actually bachelor party organizers who host balcony parties for the event.

New Orleans is more than just Mardi Gras. Hang out on Bourbon Street and enjoy a "Hurricane" at the Pat O'Briens bar. And with a name like Temptations Club, it may be hard for any man to stay out trouble at this strip club.

3. South Beach, Florida

Sun, sand, and tons of beautiful babes. South Beach is home to the trendiest nightclubs in America. Stay at the Clevlander hotel, a favorite spot for bachelor parties. It is located close to many of the hottest clubs in town. The Fifth, Priv, and Nikki Beach Club are just a few on the stops on your club-hopping tour. After spending the day by the pool, or at the beach be sure to head over to the Madonna Night Club for some stripping South Beach style.

2. Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Montreal has some of the best strip clubs on the continent. Furthermore, Montreal is one of the few places where a full-contact strip is legal. What that means is for $10cdn-a-song you are allowed and even encouraged to touch your lap dancer. Pray you get "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" from Iron Butterfly. There are over forty strip clubs in the heart of Montreal and most are full-contact. Americans get the benefit of the exchange rate plus admission, dances, and drinks are cheaper than you might find in Vegas. In addition to the strip clubs, Montreal has a happening nightlife scene with plenty of popular nightclubs and pubs.

1. Las Vegas Nevada

Vegas, baby, Vegas! Could it possibly be anyplace else? This Disneyland of Debauchery is the number one bachelor party destination. What's not love about this city that never sleeps. First class strip joints, hot nightclubs, cheap booze, and enough neon to burn a hole in your retinas. If you have the cash there is practically nothing you can't do in Vegas.

It would be impossible to list all the fun things for you and your crew to do here. Why not start the day of right with a game of golf. Spend your afternoon by the pool admiring the "scenery". Indulge your inner child and hit all the attractions. Test your luck at the Blackjack tables. All this can be done with a beer in one hand. This must be what heaven is like.

A little tip. A bit of planning could go a long way here. Have some idea of what you want to do because there is no way you can do it all in one visit. Check out a website like http://www.bachelorandbachelorettepartyinlasvegas.com for information on all the options available for your bachelor party.

Easy Web Hosting - The Easiest Web Host For You

Easy Web Hosting means subscribing to an online service in order to get your website onto the internet and being able to manage your website easily from their control panel. Paying for web hosting is like renting a small amount of space on a big commercial computer that "serves up" your website to web surfers. Hence, the name "web server" (which is the hardware part of web hosting). Lucky for you, web hosting has never been cheaper and easier.

Domains and Hosting Together?

Many domain name companies will offer you hosting when you buy your domain through them. This may seem like easy web hosting - because you can 'kill two birds with one stone,' but the reality is that you will usually pay more than if you got these things separately. Not only that, but you'll likely be getting fewer features with your hosting plan. Few people who are serious about web hosting get it from the same place they get their domains. There is one exception that I can think of, but you should generally avoid getting hosting and your domain name from the same source.

Where Should You Start?

Well, that all depends on what your website is going to need, based on your goals: How many visitors do you expect to have? Are you going to have lots of large graphics on the site? Do you have a lot of articles or products that you want to put in a database? Each host you look at will offer you different combinations of features at different price points, and finding the one that's right for you can be very confusing. The only upside to being confronted with these choices is that most will display the different hosting plans in a side by side, easy-to-compare table.

Here's some things to consider when choosing a web host:

Ease of use - which means getting one that uses cPanel ONLY! Cpanel has become THE standard for web host control panels. Anything else is no good, trust me (unless you're going for a customized, high-end personal server).

So this is priority #1 when looking for easy web hosting - regardless of the price.

Storage: The more Megabytes (MB) or Gigabytes (GB) of storage you have, the more you can put on your website. For most websites, this number can be very small without it being much of a concern. You only really need to worry if you're planning to put very large files of data on your site, like a gallery of digital photos or if you want people to download ebooks from you, for example. In these cases you'd want more than the average storage.

Bandwidth per month (as expressed in Gigabytes) is a limit on how much data your website can transfer each month. For small websites, you don't need to worry too much. But as you get more visitors that download pictures, ebooks, software, or other files, the amount of bandwidth you need will increase sharply. And you will be charged a premium amount for any bandwidth over what your original contract allowed. So it's good to get more bandwidth than less if the price isn't much more.

What about MySQL Databases?

MySQL is a program that comes on most servers that allows you to run any program that requires a database to operate. An example would be if you wanted to have a bunch of high-resolution photographs being uploaded and downloaded on a regular basis through a program (many are available - most free - that will do this), or any data-intensive program like this. You will normally only need one MySQL database, so don't pay more to get extra. It's worth noting that your host may offer some other kind of SQL instead of MySQL (for example, PostgreSQL). You should usually avoid anything other than MySQL, because MySQL has become the industry standard; all programs work flawlessly with it.

What about things like PHP, Perl, ASP, JSP, or ColdFusion?

These are all scripting languages, used to write your website. No need to know how they work, but you should make sure your host offers whichever ones that any software you plan to use requires. If you don't have specific requirements, then you should be fine with just Perl and PHP - these are the standard ones that come pre-installed on any server using cPanel. No need to fret over the technical details like these. Just get cPanel hosting to make your easy web hosting goals a reality!

How About Subdomains?

Subdomains allow you to split your website into more sections than just "http://www(dot)yoursite(dot)com." For example, if you wanted people to be able to go to 'shop(dot)yourdomain(dot)com' and 'news(dot)yourdomain(dot)com.' You don't really need these, though, as doing the same thing with subfolders is usually just as effective. What are subfolders? Any extension after a forward slash-- "/" following your main domain name. In the following URL, www(dot)yoursite(dot)com/subdomain-folder, "subdomain-folder" is a subdomain folder! (Of course, you can name it whatever you want.)

FTP accounts:

A FTP (File Transfer Protocol) account is what you'll use to upload your website to your host. You'll always get one of these built into your webhost's control panel, so don't be concerned about that. It's just a native program designed to transfer your website files and graphics from your home computer to your web host's web server. You'll also eventually want to get your own ftp software to load on your computer to upload & download files, images, and whatever else to and from your website/webhost. But the one that comes with your hosting will work for now.

POP3 accounts:

POP stands for 'Post Office Protocol', which is just fancy-speak for "email." The more POP3 accounts you get, the more email addresses you can have. For example, if you want to have several email addresses such as sales(at)yourdomain(dot)com and support(at)yourdomain(dot)com and yourname(at)yourdomain(dot)com, etc.

So your easy web hosting solution should include the standard cPanel interface. (A fancy way of saying "control panel" for uploading, downloading, and manipulating images, files, webpages, etc. on your web host's server.)

Wine Tasting Parties: 4 Easy Steps to Hosting a Great Wine Tasting Party

Thomas Jefferson said, “Good wine is a necessity of life for me”. No wonder he was one of our founding fathers!

More and more people are drinking wine these days and why not? It’s readily acknowledged by the medical community that drinking red wine in moderation has a myriad of health benefits including lowering your risk of contracting heart disease, breast cancer, prostate cancer and cataracts. I don’t know about you, but for me, that’s a good enough reason to enjoy a glass or two every night. In addition, it’s a nice way to relax after a rough day and getting together with friends over a glass of wine is a great venue for socializing and having fun.

One way to do this is by hosting a wine tasting party. Besides being a lot of fun, this is an excellent approach for learning about wine and maybe finding a few new wines you really enjoy. Below are some guidelines that will help you organize a wine tasting that’s sure to be a hit.

  1. Inviting your guests-

The first thing you need to consider when organizing a wine-tasting party is how many people to invite. Generally speaking, 8 to 12 is considered the optimum number of guests. This size group is large enough to promote spontaneous interaction and small enough to be easily manageable.

Whether you telephone, email, or sent written invitations is a personal choice. I happen to prefer sending email invitations. American Greetings has a great card site that includes “eInvites”. It’s a wonderful service where you can send invitations and your guests can simply click a button to RSVP. You can even schedule follow-up reminders. The American greeting site has a $20.00 yearly membership fee, but for all the ecards and services, I think it’s worth it.

  2. Choosing the wine-

In my opinion, choosing the wine to taste at your party is the best part of the planning stage. But then, I happen to get mesmerized every time I walk into a large wine store. There’s so much to choose from.

There are many different ways you can handle wine selection. One option is to consider a themed party. For example: “California Chardonnays”, “German Rieslings”, “Wines Under $10.00”, or “Italian Reds”. The possibilities here are endless, so don’t be afraid to be creative. Another option might be to choose wines from a particular winery or even to select different vintages (years) of the exact same wine. Selecting different vintages of the same wine is called a vertical tasting and this may be more costly to do since older vintages tend to carry a higher price tag.

When buying the wine for your party, keep in mind that for tasting purposes, each pour should be about two ounces. This means that for eight people or less, one 750 ml bottle should be enough.

  3. The question of food-

No party would be complete without food. However, depending on your goal for the event, you may want to wait until after tasting the wine to serve food because food affects the taste of wine and visa-versa. If your goal is to have an informal gathering of friends and experience new wines with good food, by all means serve food paired with the various wines. In fact, an easy and fun way to have a wine tasting party is to ask your guests to bring the various courses (appetizers, soup, salad, dessert) along with a paired wine while you provide the main course and wine.

If your primary goal is tasting and judging new wine, it is more appropriate to wait until after the tasting to serve the food. Instead, during the tasting, provide only unflavored crackers (saltines) or bread to cleanse the palette between wines.

  4. Tasting and rating the wine-

Remember to limit your pours to two ounces (visually, two ounces is about two inches in a normal size wine glass). Place pitchers of water out for your guests to rinse their glasses or cleanse the palate between tastings. Also, have buckets available for those who choose to spit out the wine instead of swallowing it. Spitting is not necessarily an indication of not liking the wine. Many wine tasters spit so they will not be affected by alcohol consumption. Especially if the tasting is to be followed by socializing and drinking wine.

One suggestion for tasting and rating the wine is to simply hand out paper and pens to each of the guests as they arrive so they are able to make notes on each wine tasted. To make this process more structured and organized, you can download and print wine tasting forms from the internet. Clicking on the following link will take you to Wine-Reviewer where you may download a wine tasting review form. Wine reviews [http://www.wine-reviewer.com/hosting-a-wine-tasting-party.htm]
You may reduce the chance of ratings being influenced by personal preference or prejudice by having a “blind tasting”. To do this, completely wrap each of the bottles with aluminum foil and label it with a number. The wine will then be identified and judged by the number on the bottle.

To make the evening a bit more interesting and educational, research the wine, winery and wine-making region. Your guests will probably find the information interesting and will appreciate your effort.

Using these guidelines, having a wine-tasting party is as easy as 1-2-3-4. Have fun, but please remember to drink responsibly and do not let others drink and drive. If possible, have someone be a designated driver to insure that everyone gets home safely.

Iron Man Collectibles Are Getting Hot

Iron Man Collectibles are getting as hot as the summer heat as the movie continues to build momentum and gain a larger and larger audience. Many movie-goers have found themselves transported back to the days of their youth when characters like Iron Man, Spiderman and Batman ruled our free time.

I know many a dollar from my allowance was spent scarfing up the latest Iron Man comic book or the latest Batman comic books. These were two of my favorites then, so its not surprise that they are two of my favorites now. What a great time for a comic book fan with Iron Man already released, The Incredible Hulk on the horizon and The Dark Knight (Batman) movie right behind it.

Any time you have movies that are as wildly popular with movie-goers as these are going to be, then it is inevitable that a whole economy of collectibles and memorabilia products will spring into the forefront. It is no different with Iron Man. Iron Man Collectibles are big business right now as eager fans scarf up Iron Man Costumes, Iron Man masks, Iron Man action figures and a whole host of other Iron Man Collectibles.

I don't see Batman or the Incredible Hulk being any different. These movies have large fan bases that are now 30 and 40 something year olds who have a higher level of disposable income and a taste for some cool stuff. They can afford to drop 200 dollars on an Iron Man helmet for no other reason than the cool factor that it provides in your Den or Gameroom.

I have no doubt that the collectibles being produced today will only go up in value as time progresses. All you need to do is look at some of the prices on early Iron Man comic books to see what the potential might be. Anytime you mix childhood memories and a disposable income, you are bound to create a market and Iron Man and Batman have that enviable ability to transport you away from your 9 to 5 back to the days of riding your bike, penny candy and school vacations.

Those were the good old days for sure.

If Iron Man Collectibles or Batman Collectibles [http://www.thedarkknightcollectibles.com] are high on your list then make sure you act quickly because many of them are limited production to increase the collectors value. Have a great summer movie season!

Soldotna To Host Alaska's First Global Food Trades

Alaska will finally have a chance to show her wares to the world. She can especially show off her exceptional Last Frontier only cuisine. This summer Soldotna, Alaska is the strategically chosen host for the first Alaska food buyers' conference, The Global Food Alaska 2007 Conference and Tradeshow. Everyone even remotely involved in the Alaskan food industry will be there. Even Mom and Pop Operations, of which Alaska has many, will be among those showing off their various food products. Many in the industry have waited for this day.

Alaskans have always known that they have fantastic food. And the tourists that have had a chance to experience and taste the various food products have discovered it too. The problem is that aside from those who dare to venture a visit to Alaska, it still leaves many who live in the lower 48 states with that common misconception that Alaska and Alaska's products are out of their reach. Although nothing could be further from the truth, convincing others of that fact is quite another thing. Some myths, especially Alaskan myths are tough to change.

Granted, for a good many decades the idea of transporting any type of products to and from Alaska was pretty hopeless. The dangerous and often treacherous terrain was enough to keep visitors and freight both away. Even airlines and their pilots gave pause when considering Alaska as a travel destination for a good many years. The post office or at least some form of a postal service or pony express was probably the only savior for those trying to get goods even around Alaska itself much less the lower 48 states or the rest of the world.

Today it's no big deal to get mail in and out of Alaska. Alaska has you might say come out of the Stone Age; at least where mail is concerned. She's made some concessions. There are now U.S. post offices all over the state, which are quite efficient. Alaskans regularly receive mail and packages of all sorts and sizes from all over the world. They are no different in their buying habits from the rest of the world. And big business knows it even if others haven't caught on. Alaska isn't far enough to keep eBay, Amazon and other online businesses from delivering their products.

This summer a lot could change for the Alaska food industry. Usually those in the Alaska food industry are the ones who travel to the various food conferences, fairs and tradeshows around the world. This year those in the Alaska food business can stay home and just get ready for company because in June the world is coming to Alaska. The very first Global Food Alaska 2007 Conference and Tradeshow will be held in the Soldotna Sport Center on June 13th and 14th and will feature various food industry businesses. Meat and fish processors, farmers, gardeners and anyone at all associated with growing, preparing, harvesting, marketing or any other aspect of the food industry will be on hand to give buyers an earful and mouthful of Alaska's best cuisine. The hope is that some fortunate Alaska food businesses will make some new friends and a whole lot of new customers too.

Couples Baby Shower

The first baby showers were women-only events. They were basically a way to give new moms some entertainment while they were in seclusion with their child in the first few months after delivery. Thankfully, that's no longer how our culture does things. Now couple baby shower have become more common. However, when you start blending the genders on your guest list that means you may need to make some party changes starting with your baby shower invitations.

The Guest List for the Baby Couples Shower

Obviously, one of the main changes when you decide on a co-ed shower is who is going to receive the baby shower invitation to the couple baby shower. When it was mainly an event for moms, the guest list consisted primarily of female family members and friends of the mom-to-be. Now the guest list can be broadened to include friends and family of both sexes. Be aware that the change might result in a bigger shower than you might have been prepared to manage. On the bright side, the couple will probably score a lot more great gifts.

Baby Couples Shower Activities

With such a diverse array of people coming to the babyshower party, one might wonder what other changes should made. For starters, the entire event can now be planned by either a female or a male friend or relative. Although you may not find many guys who are willing to tackle the task of sending out couples shower invitations, it's now a possibility. That's nice for couples who have more men than women as friends and family members.

Even more important than who might get to be the lucky host of the event is what types of activities to choose that will appeal to the varied guests at a baby showers couples party. You don't want to make the men feel as if they are just along for the ride but you also don't want to totally dilute the entire idea of the shower. For starters, you may want to have a man and a woman work on planning some couples baby shower games together. That way you'll have input from both sexes and that should generate some activities that make everyone happy. Trivia contests about the couples are a great choice. You could also break the group into male and female pairs for activities, such as diapering contests or baby food tasting events.

If you're looking for couple baby shower plans, just remember you don't want to divide the genders. When you are hosting couples baby showers, you want both sexes to participate together. That doesn't mean having a television playing ESPN in one room while all of the women exchange child birth horror stories in the other part of the house. Remember those couple baby shower invitations are going to both genders so plan accordingly.

Of course, if you're having trouble planning your couple baby shower go to the expecting parents for advice. Not only do they know their friends and family members better than anyone else but it's there party for better or for worse.

Sharepoint - My Favorite Feature

Okay, so anybody who has read any of my previous articles knows that I am a man that is all about neat organization. I like to know the who, what, when, and where of my schedule at all times. My personal belief is that if you have a well organized schedule, your life will flow a million times smoother.

I often watch people that work in companies where tidy scheduling does not take precedence. It is quite a show. These people often run about like chickens that have just had their heads chopped off. They seem to be under a constant and steady flow of stress, worry, and irritability. I don't know about you, but that does not sound like a great quality of work life.

So where am I going with this? As I am sure you can imagine, my absolute favorite feature within Sharepoint is the calendar. The calendar feature has been the most used portion of Sharepoint in my office.

How is it used?

There are a number of different ways in which I will list and discuss here.

o Appointment Setting

Like any business environment, my office is full of appointment setting. We set appointments to meet with clients, potential clients, investors, you name it. SP allows us to have a public calendar that shows who is coming in the office at what time and who they are meeting with. So long as my team stays current on checking the calendar, everyone knows what is going on.

o Out of Office Notifications

This is perhaps my favorite part of the calendar. How many times has a member of your team left for vacation, or left the office for a Dr.'s Appt. or anything of the like and you have been left in the dark about there absence. It always happens that you need them for something when they are out of the office also! Well, say goodbye to this kind of hassle! I have my team mark the public calendar to notify all times and dates that they will be out of the office!

There is not much more to say about this. The Sharepoint calendar is amazing and I do not know what I would do without it!
